Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging
General X-Ray
X-rays of your chest, abdomen, skull, arms, legs, etc. can be performed at any of the LVHHN locations.
These types of x-rays do not normally need to be scheduled.
As with all x-rays, tell the technologist if there is any possibility that you may be pregnant.
When you arrive in X-ray, you will be asked to have a seat in the waiting room until the room to be used for your X-ray examination becomes available. Do not become alarmed if you see other patients come and go while you wait. There are many different types of exams performed in various departments within Radiology.
Depending upon what type of x-ray you are having, you may be asked to change into a gown so that no buttons, snaps or zippers interfere with the pictures. Sometimes you will be asked to remove jewelry, dentures, hearing aids, hairpins and glasses. After your study has been completed, the technologist will check your images, and let you know when you can leave the department. The radiologist will interpret the images and a report, which will be sent to your doctor. This page last updated 2/12/08 04:08 PM
